Panduan Penulis

Authors submitting to Journal ALBION are expected to adhere to specific formatting and structural guidelines to ensure consistency and clarity across all published works. The following guide outlines how your article should be structured from the title to the references.

Title and Author Information

Your article should begin with a title that reflects the main focus of your research. The title should use Times New Roman, 16-point font, with only the first letter of the first word and any proper nouns capitalized (i.e., sentence case). Leave one blank space below the title. Next, provide the author’s full name(s) in Times New Roman, 10-point font, without academic titles or abbreviations. If an author is affiliated with more than one institution, superscript numbers should be used to indicate multiple affiliations. List the full names of the institutions accordingly. For example:

Dyah¹, Kristyowati²
¹Universitas Pakuan, ²Universitas Siliwangi

Following the affiliations, include the corresponding author’s email address in italics and label it as: Email correspondence: yourname@email.com

You must also include a short line detailing the article's editorial history with placeholders for dates:
Article History: Accepted: – ; Revised: – ; Approved: –

Abstract and Keywords

An abstract of no more than 150 words should follow. It should be written in Times New Roman, 12-point font, using single spacing. The abstract must summarize the background of the study, research objectives, methodology, findings, and the significance of the research. Below the abstract, list up to five keywords, separated by semicolons (;). These should reflect the core themes of your paper and help index your work. For example: Keywords: literary criticism; postcolonialism; identity; narrative style; diaspora

Introduction

Begin the body of your article with the Introduction, using Times New Roman, 14-point font for the section heading. Leave one blank space after the heading before starting your text. The body text should be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, single-spaced, and justified. The introduction should not be broken into subheadings. It should provide a comprehensive synthesis of the study background, relevant literature, research questions, and the study’s objective. End the section with a clearly stated thesis, unless it’s more appropriate in the Methods section. Each paragraph must include three to five effective sentences, and all citations must follow body-note format, consistent with the reference list.

Methods

The Methods section should consist of at least two paragraphs and should not exceed one page. It should explain the research methodology, analytical framework, and supporting theories. If the thesis has not been explicitly stated in the introduction, it may be stated at the end of this section. As with the introduction, each paragraph must contain three to five effective sentences, and the body-note citation style must be used.

Findings and Discussion

This is the core section of your article and should be at least five pages in length. Here, you will analyze your research corpus and present findings supported by theoretical and conceptual frameworks. Findings should be explained clearly and succinctly, followed by a discussion that contextualizes them within existing scholarship. If needed, one level of subheadings may be used to organize your discussion. These subheadings must be in Times New Roman, 12-point font, bold, and must not be numbered (i.e., avoid using 1.1, 1.2, etc.). Leave a space after each subheading before beginning the paragraph. Quotations that are longer than three lines must be placed in a separate paragraph, indented, italicized, and enclosed in quotation marks. These quotations should be single-spaced, distinguishing them from the main paragraph spacing. All paragraphs in this section must follow the same structure as previous sections: three to five effective sentences and body-note citations.

Tables and Figures

When incorporating tables into your article, authors must ensure that they are clear, professional, and easy to read. Tables should be used to summarize data, highlight patterns, or support key findings in a way that enhances understanding for the reader. All tables must be digitally created using word processing or spreadsheet tools—screenshots or images of tables are not permitted. The formatting should be clean and minimal; do not use full borders that create a “chessboard” appearance. Instead, internal lines should be removed, and only the essential borders should be kept (e.g., for headers and totals) to maintain clarity. Each table must be centered on the page and use Times New Roman font, 11-point size, with single line spacing. Tables should be numbered consecutively (e.g., Table 1, Table 2, etc.) according to their appearance in the article. The table title should be concise and placed above the table, in sentence case, followed by the number (e.g., Table 3. Survey response categories). Immediately after the table, the source of the data should be stated in parentheses using the word "Source" formatted in plain text (not italics). This should be positioned directly below the table and aligned with the table itself. If charts or diagrams are used in place of tables, all elements must be properly aligned and grouped before inserting them into the document to ensure they maintain their formatting during the review or publication process. Finally, the content of the table should directly relate to the discussion in the text. Authors should refer to each table in the body of the article and interpret the data presented, rather than simply displaying it without commentary.

Conclusion

The Conclusion section should succinctly summarize the key findings of your study (maximun a paragraph) and how they relate to the initial research questions. Additionally, offer broader implications or suggestions for future research on the topic. This section should reinforce the significance of the study without introducing new data.

References

Your reference list must reflect all sources cited in the article and should meet the following criteria:

  • All sources must have been published within the last 10 years (from 2015 onward, based on a 2025 publication date).
  • Include at least 20 sources, with at least one-third being reference books.
  • The remainder should be from peer-reviewed academic journals, preferably with DOIs.
  • At least one citation must be from Albion: Journal of English Literature and Culture (https://journal.unpak.ac.id/index.php/albion).

We recommend using Mendeley or Zotero for managing your references. Both tools support the APA 7th edition style and integrate seamlessly with Microsoft Word for automatic citation and bibliography formatting. Insert a single blank line between each reference entry.

Citation Format Examples (APA 7th):

  • Book:
Smith, J. A. (2020). Environmental sustainability. Oxford University Press.
  • Journal Article:
Lee, K. M. (2022). Urban greening and health. Journal of Environmental Psychology, 81, 101798. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.jenvp.2022.101798

In-text Citations:

  • Paraphrased content: (Smith, 2020)
  • Direct quotation: (Lee, 2022, p. 153)
